Learning about enemies

in reading an email regarding the picture at the bottom of this post that was forwarded to me.....I thought of another way in which to see this. Let me preface what I am about to say to the person who sent me this email, my opinions in no way mean any disrespect and I love you immensely....I just had another possible point of view I wanted to offer.

Now to begin with I am a registered Democrat, however, I do not always vote my party. I vote on what I think is most logical. That being said I did not vote for Obama nor do I support any of his declarations since he took office. I do not necessarily think he's the sharpest tool in the shed nor the dullest. Political parties aside, could it be that possibly Obama is reading about America's enemy? The old saying goes...."keep your friends close and your enemies closer." I have Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope" in my house not because I support Obama but I wanted to learn more about my "enemy". The more you know about your adversary, the better equipped you are to deal with him/her/it.

I try (as best I can) not to judge someone's behavior until I have some (or all) of the facts first. So this picture causes me to wonder why he is reading this book. I may never receive the answer, but in any event the book itself has peaked my curiosity to see what it is all about. Why would someone be writing about a world Post-America? What is the author saying about the Post American World? Should I be concerned?

There are global events happening every day that give me cause for concern. While I may not be able to control or prevent anything catastrophic from happening, I can be as prepared as possible to survive the aftermath. Part of that preparation is understanding my enemy.....thus the reason I plan to investigate the book further. While I am not a supporter of Obama, I will have to thank him for showing Americans a tool to use to prepare themselves in case the worst happens.

Time will tell

  1. Msg from T-FO: I received my copy of "The Post-American World" tonight and I look forward to reading it. It's interesting that the largest and most positive book reviews that are listed in the front of the book appear to be from liberal media sources. I have to do some background checking to be sure....I will defintely need to read this book with a clear head to glean the understanding I need from the book.
